A KAWAIDA DAY AT NYAYO GYM PART2 By ballerCHIC

So the first leg is over and we all can’t wait for the second leg to begin so that we can get some more basketball action but now with the current power rationing situation and KBF as our managers kutaendaje?? But anyway that’s beside the point. So on my kawa dayz at nyayo I have come to notice something very peculiar and consistent-that most people aren’t the least interested with the ladies gamez. Most ladies games are normally scheduled from 10:00 am to 2pm in between which times that most people found at the gym or around the gym will opt to sit outside and chat or either go to west and have a couple before the ‘HOT’ mens game are on. Why I ask and mostly the answer I get is that the ladies games are boring?????? But what really gat me thinking is the fact that among these people who are never in watching the games or least bit concerned are the said ladies themselves .

The only reasons why you will find a lady /guy in the gym during the said boring ladies games are:-

+ 25% either they had a game before the said game
+ 20% they have a game after since most arrive during the game and at the end of the game
+ 20% they gat the wrong tyme for the HOT gyz game
+ 20% they have come early to pick the ladies/guys who had a game before to go for lunch before the hot game
+ 10% the early arrivals to the hot game (during the last quarter)
+ 5% they are actually there to watch the game

Eastern Queens forward, Emma Nyakweba shooting her freethrows against Mennonites in a WOMEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE GAME. Notice the empty Gym!!!

And after doing the math I finally came to the conclusion that the ladies games are watched in shifts!!Ha! It’s that bad. It’s those ones of after all the gamez for the day have been played you will find guyz asking: ’na ile game a madame ya 12 iliendaje?’ answer(s) -- ‘Mimi sijui nilitoka half tym’,’mimi niliingia 3rd quarter nikatoka nikirudi ya machali had startd’ or luckily ‘tuliwashinda na 30 points’ from a lady who was in the said game or if you don’t have the said lady in ur conversation u will hope that the sports news guy wil mention it while running a clip of the jamaaz game!!!

It’s sad when you arrive and there is a ladies game in the gym and there are more people outside than there are inside and ironically among the outsiderz kuna madame wengi kuliko machali. But come 4 o’clock during the said hot game you finally see people coming in mostly madame who are so on tyme for the game and all sitted strategically so they don’t miss the action. And funny thing is that u would think they had other important things to do before the said time but no they did not they wr just waiting to arrive in time 4 th hot game.Makes me and a couple of others wonder where were during the ladies game and to your surprise ul get that there next game is against one of the ladies team that were playing???? ask any lady how maybe a particular ladies team play-there defense, offence and the likes and most of the time they wouldn’t know or will end up saying stuff like ‘wako tu namangware’, ‘wako na nani kwa team yao( how nani playz is also a rare guess’)..Or just a bare ‘wako poa’ or ‘wako down’ But ask the same lady how kcb coop or even posta plays and you would think you were talking to the coach of the team u asked about.

They know every single detail!!!!!!! and so I was actually surprised when I heard a group of ladies asking why ‘bake ya madame’ is not that recognized than ya machali( the said conversation was happening outside while inside a ladies game was going on)???!!!Gat me wondering ARE YOU FOR REAL??!!

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to also be asking guys to be showing up for the ladies gamez but why ask guys to show if the ladies themselves only show up when they are playing. Ladies before we ask others to assist us why don’t we make the effort ourselves and make our games even more interesting.its the lack of interest that makes our games ‘boring’…because most of us are so stereo typed into believing that a certain team is better that the other yet we all have the same potential…so much so when we arrive for games we already know how its gonna end before the jump ball so we end up not giving our all. And even the teams that consider themselves better than the rest end up playing just for the sake of playing hence the games are ‘boring’.

That’s why when a said better team is defeated by another, people are so shocked and in disbelief. ladies lets follow in the steps of the jammaz lets step up our games and most importantly lets develop more interest in our games and put more effort in our games so that there can be more competition in the ladies games too and there can be ‘more pple in than out’.

We could pay people to come watch our games or even borrow a leaf from our volleyball ladies and put on a tight kit like theirs but if we ourselves are not interested or don’t up the energy in the games then we will be left with subs, refs ,coaches and the officials watching the games!!!We are so much into hating and Bitching about each other that we forget the reason why we are all there…BASKETBALL!! So as the 2nd leg begins lets transfer all the energy into doing something more progressive and let’s all BALL and have fun. So to KPA, EAGLEWINGS, KCA-LADIEZ, FLAMES, STORMS, SWORDS, EASTERN QUEENS, MENNONITES, YANA lets rise above our differences and take Kenyan ladies basketball where it’s supposed to be and that can only happen if we put interest in our gamez before we Marshall others to come watch our games. And for once let the ladies final also be so unpredictable, competitive and HOT……..see y’all there xoxoxo!
