::. JUDITH OBIERO| TEAM: LADY FALCONS DAYTONA STATE COLLEGE, FLORIDA-USA | POSITION: GUARD

Judith Obiero

Judith Obiero, also known to many as “Lulu” has come along way to make it in the basketball circles. The humble, soft spoken 5-foot-8 guard, currently playing for Lady Falcons; Women’s basketball team for Daytona State College in Florida USA, has been through thick and thin both in the basketball arena, and in life, from the days she played for former High School champions Kamukunji Girls High School in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association – KSSSA League as a point guard. Obiero joined women’s premier league side, National Social Security Fund – NSSF where she continued with her prowess running the backcourt, had a brief stint with KCB Lionesses, before heading to the Republic of Uganda for her A-Levels while playing for Najja High Scjool.

For Obiero, it was all about struggling to be the best, and she worked hard to achieve exactly that, making a name for herself in the Ugandan basketball league. Her hardwork finally paid off when she got he break-through while playing for Lady Bucks in the Uganda League, when she landed a scholarship to study at Daytona State College in the USA. At Daytona, Obiero has continued to improve her game, always putting in more effort and working hard to succeed, and elevate her team to greater heights, rising to become lead point guard for the Lady Falcons.

Her achievements include both Provincial (Nairobi) and National High School championships with Kamukunji High School in 2002 and 2003, League Championship with Lady Bucks in Uganda in 2005 and 2006 and 2007 Inter-Cities Championship with the Nairobi City Team, where she was instrumental as Nairobi hit Kampala City 86-67 to retain the women’s title.

Opinion:
Kenyan basketball is wat its, I liked it but there was no progress... i thank God I went to Uganda, where I got my scholarship to where I am now. I hope now KBF is giving young players a chance by giving good players what belongs to them, and also try to teach the young kids b.ball in their early age.

Philosophy:
"My future is now", “Never wait for success, look for it"

Favorite players:
Greg (formerly KCB Lions), Rose Ouma (Wayland Baptist, Texas), Lisa Leslie (WNBA), Kevin Garnett (NBA)

Advice:
Hey upcoming players, i was once there, so do what you got to do no matter what may come your way believe in you self and God will see you through. I have the experience." hard work pays"

Daytona College Basketball Page Quote:
“Redshirt freshman, Judith Obiero, will be an anchor at the guard position. With a faultless 4.0 GPA, Obiero’s soaring basketball IQ will also help tutor young Falcons on the court as well in the classroom”.
