BASKETBALL CLINIC

Kianyaga High
School Patron, Mr. James Mwangi receives basketball kit from
ALSA's Development Program coordinator, Harrisson Omondi,
as ALSA Director, Richard Okila looks on.
Over
16 players from the Kianyaga Boys High School basketball team
benefitted from a basketball clinic that was held at their
school located in Kirinyaga District, Central province. The
clinic was organized through the efforts of Davis Mureithi
in conjunction with Kianyaga High School under the ALSA Volunteer
Program – AVP.
This
was the second edition of this basketball clinic and it aims
to promote, develop and improve the basic skills and standards
of basketball at the High School level. The clinic lays emphasis
on developing sound fundamentals in basketball by incorporating
them into the regular team training while still keeping it
fun and interactive.
The
students were taken through the various drills such as passing
shooting and jump-stop. The clinic was conducted under the
keen eye of Coach Harry (USIU-A Flames) assisted by Coaches
Richard and Davis.
The clinic was concluded by a series of pep talks where the
players were reminded that they are first students, then players.
The importance of education and how discipline transcends
class and the court as we do the right thing at the right
time. Players were encouraged to view basketball as an avenue
to fulfilling dreams as it can allow you to further your education
and your careers.
ALSA
Volunteer Program would like to extend its appreciation to
the school administration for their hospitality through the
basketball patron Mr. James Mwangi who organized for the students
to be exempt from afternoon preps to take part in the clinic.
Also present at the clinic was Mr. Daniel Ngangasi II a consultant
communication and documentation specialist attached to ALSA
from Uganda.

a basketball to the team.
