|KPA and Rwanda's APR warm up for Africa club championships in Kisumu
event

Zone Five giants Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women and APR of Rwanda
over the weekend warmed up for their Africa Club Championships by
taking part in a national tournament held in Kisumu. The
two day tournament, played at the Kenyatta Sports Ground saw APR
beat KPA men 43-30 in a low acosing show while KPA women were felled
38-40 by premier league side Easter Queens, the only side to have
humiliated them in the league.

Ngandu led the way whith 17 points while Presta Malembi made 10
for the Rwandese champions, coached by Cliff Owuor, a Kenyan who
started his playing career in the lakeside town years back. APR
will host the event in December. KPA had 10 from Dan Okwirri. Hilda
Indasi (R) who was on fire when KPA lost 45-68
to Queens. was again the toast sinking 10 points for the winners
while Yvonne Akinyi, made 13 for the porters who still have a lot
of home work to do before they fly out for the Benin show next month.
Uganda
Christin University (USU) also made the jounery to Kisumu for this
annual tournament that despite having an international touch also
drew clubs from within including school teams. In the Nairobi Basketball
Association (NBA) Trailblazers romped into the play offs finals
when they shut out Emyba 75-67 in Game Three played at Hope Center
on Tuesday. Dennis Oyaro nailed 23 points to lead Trailblazers,
who also topped in the regular season standings. Ken Ondiek burried
21 points for the losers. Trailblazers won Game Two 70-60 behind
Joshua Vuva's 17 points while Ondiek managed season high 34. Both
teams had put up a spirited fight in Game One which Trailblazers
topped 61-55 as Vuva hit 19 points and Ondiek was the losers toast
with another 27 points haul.
In
other matches, Kenya Polytechnic nipped Nairobi Aviation College
(NAC) 59-58. Edgar Kisiali scored 15 points. Alvin Mbaluka had 12
for NAC who won lost Game Two 55-60. NAC had won the opening tie
54-49 behind Paul Macharia's 10 points. Lameck Ombuya shot 16 for
Poly. Poly who had won the first two games, must win the the other
match to move to the finals.They posted a 60-55 ein over NAC with
Massoud Issa scoring 16 points while Moses Musosi hit 16 pointsfor
NAC. Old Pirates lost 61-49 to Friends of Basketball (FOB) in a
classification tie.
Safe
Spaces had 11 points from Florence Mbithe as they edged out World
Hope 52-50 to reach the women's finals. They took the series 3-0
and will either meet Kenya Polytechnic or Predators who charge back
from two games down to win 49-25 as Wilkiste Oduor led with 17 points.
