Angola | The National team of Angola participated in the International tournament

The National team of Angola participated in the International tournament that just finished in Russia. Four teams participated at the Belov and Kondrashin Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia. Spartak St. Petersburg and Italian Montepaschi Siena reached the Final to meet each other tonight. In Day 1 the hosts of the tournament overcame the National team of Angola 82:71. It was great to see African representative in the International tournament. The Russian side opened the game with 24:14 and added massive 27-19 in the second frame. Angola played better in the second half and managed to reduce the gap. The guests produced 19-12 in the third period and had 19-19 in the last stanza. Roman Levter top-scored for the winners with 16 points. Milovan Rakovic netted 14, while Aleksey Zozulin posted 12. Fileds netted 11 points, Dedushkin scored 8 and Pashutin brought his team 7 points.

In another Semifinal Montepaschi Siena beat Unics Kazan 78:77 in a thriller. The Italian team started with 20:17 and had 5-point advantage at the halftime. Siena team enjoyed 38:33 when the teams went to the lockers. Unics managed to reduce only to 4 points entering the last stanza, but lost one point anyway. Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-C-79) stepped up with 23 points to lead all the winners. Henry Domercant (192-G-80, college: E.Illinois) brought 13 points, while McIntyre posted 11. Romain Sato posted 10 and Stonerook finished the night with 7 points. Veremeenko ended up with 19 points in the losing effort. Artem Kouziakine poured in 13 and Lyday scored 10.
The Italian team Siena ended up as the winner, the hosts finished second, while another Russian team is third. The guests from Angola showed their best, but settled down on the fourth position.

In the Final game the team overcame the hosts Spartak St Petersburg 95:75. Both squads tried hard in the opening quarter and as a result Siena team could get only 22-21. They improved to 47:34 at the halftime and never looked behind in the game. The third period had ended with 72:54 for the Italian team that added another 23-21 in the last stanza. Henry Domercant paced all the winners with 23 points and Ksistof Lavrinovic netted 17. Nikolaos Zisis produced 13, Sato had 12 while Carraretto notched 10. Rakovic erupted with 25 points in the losing effort. Fields scored 13 and Zakhar Pashutin (195-G-74) brought his team 12.

In the game for the third place Unics outscored the National team of Angola 88:49. The Russian team controlled the whole game and rightfully won the encounter. After the pity loss in the Semifinal, the Russian team proved the ambitions and did not leave a chance for the African team. Zakhar Pashutin was named the MVP of the tournament. Simone Pianigiani was named the best coach of the tournament
