JaMalaria U-17 Camp | ONE OFFENSE FOR EVERY VICTIM >>>>>>JOIN THE CAMPAIGN!!!!!!!!!!!

The JaMalaria Basketball camp brought together players, coaches and fans from different teams as well as parts of the city of Nairobi and the East African region. AlsaBasketball crew got to ask them on why they joined JaMalaria...and here's some of their responses.

Angela Lokidi | ALSA-Uganda
The JaMalaria camp was truly a blessing to both the kids and the basketballers, who got a chance to share basketball skills as well as knowledge on Malaria, how to prevent, control, and treat it. I really appreciate and thank the international players for participating in this camp.
Mr Peter Mc Odida | Director- International Medical Corps
KeNAAM are committed to mobilizing the power of the youth and sport to accelerate the campaign against Malaria. We therefore look to partner with the youth and sports men in Kenya to create “voices” for Malaria and in you we look to establishing Malaria advocates. There are real life hero’s amongst us who can become role models to others.
John Baraza | SEEB Club - Oman
It was great being here, especially for the kids, as we teach them basketball as well as issues relating to Malaria. They are the future and we need to get them involved not only at the community level, but also nationally in issues relating to the game and the society.
Irene Atieno | UoN Dynamites
I came to help in nurturing young talent, as we inform them about Malaria, its prevention, control and treatment so that they can become future sportsmen and women
Brenda Odula | USIU Flames
I came to the camp, it being a basketball oriented event, i felt oblinged to show my support for it, and from what i have seen, i feel such events are good especially in bringing up talent.
Patrick Odhiambo | Nizwa Club- Oman
For a long tyme we've been focusing on the older generation...and we forget there's talent that needs to be nurtured, JaMalaria presented that opportunity to coach and share with the kids, and was worth it as we came together for basketball and against Malaria .
Joan Muriuki | ALSA-USA
The camp was a great opportunity to share basketball skills with the kids while at the same time informing them on Malaria and its dangers. Besides...i got to coach! that was fun
Rocky Oyamo | Shauri Moyo Baptist
I brought the junior team to learn more about basketball, and improve both their skills and mine. In addition, i feel the campaign against Malaria- its prevention, treatment and control, is worthy and we join the campaign
Sylvia Jebet | UoN Dynamites
I came to the camp to share my skills and experiences both basketball and on Malaria with the kids, refresh my basic skills, and also sharpen my coaching skills
Dennis Opiyo | KCB Lions
The camp was an ideal opportunity to build the sport of basketball from a lower level, taking into consideration this are the players of the future.... and they will extend the fight against Malaria to their time
Yvonne Agengo | Strathmore University/ KeNAAM
I came to support ALSA in their effort to fight Malaria through sports and be part of the ALSA initiative. It is high time people as well as authorities in the health sector realized the effectiveness of sports in educating the community on various issues
Abel Nson | USIU Tigers
first of all, I am from Cameroon- a malaria infested country, so it was an occasion for me to help in any way i could against Malaria, as i give back to the community through facilitating the camp and share with the kids what i have learnt basketball-wise throughout my life.
Makatiani Ayesa | Strathmore University
I came to give back to the community as we come together to campaign against Malaria through sports, and also learn basic basketball Coaching skils
Arnold Muoki | UoN Terror
It was good to give back to the society what it gave to me, by sharing what i have learnt over the years-and helping in conveying of the message against Malaria hoping to improve a childs life as well as my own...and ultimately save a life and the future of this nation
Myra | Egerton University- Assasins
I came to see and appreciate young talent, help nurture it, and help prevent the spread of Malaria by teaching the children how it can be prevented. The kids are the most vulnarable and most affected and by teaching them we can see future generations live to play BASKETBALL
Eric Maosa | UoN Terror
It was a great opportunity to help in team building. In addition, Malaria destroys lots of lives due to ignorance, and the fact that i can help stop Malaria by informing the kids on how to stop it, gives me great joy and pride
Brian Busu | UoN Terror
The JaMalaria camp gave me an opportunity to help improve the talent in the society, and also a chance to enlite the children on Malaria and it's dangers.
Richard Muller Baddia |
Was an opportunity to link up with my former teammates and help in coaching the young kids on basketball skills, play against them to give them a feel of the game, as we shared information on Malaria. I am looking forward to next years event
Eunice Wangare-Matilda | UoN Dynamites
The event was an inspiration for me to help the kids follow their basketball dreams, and do so while they are healthy and free from Malaria. It was real fun playing with the kids as well as the professional players, and i too have learnt a lot from this camp
Stephen Omondi | KCITI
I brought the junior team to sharpen their skills, get educated on Malaria, and help out in any way possible.
Kevin Owino
Kevin Owino | ALSA VOLUNTEERS PROGRAM, Japan
My take on JaMalaria Programme is that we should keep doing the good work because it may look like a drop in the ocean but the impact it has on the society is something so great. We will never be able to know because we don't experience it, but the people who do will forever be greatful so let's keep on doing such things to create awareness because information is power. But lets enjoy basketball as we engage in such activities, its not for us, our time is gone lets do it for the kids and the ones unable to help themselves.
